10 most powerful fighters of World War Two

Written by Sakhal

The ratings given in this article are based in a rough estimation of the effectiveness of the guns installed on these ten superb fighter aircraft from the Second World war. The calculation was effectuated by taking into account the most fundamental aspects of an artillery piece created with the purpose of destroying or damaging an aircraft; in this case I have used the caliber, the rate of fire, the muzzle speed and the number of guns. These ratings are meant to represent instant firepower, which accounts for how destructive the artillery installed in a certain aircraft can be in a given moment. Caliber represents the capability to cause damage, rate of fire represents the capability to saturate the space with projectiles, which increases the chances of hitting the target, and muzzle speed helps to estimate the effective range and piercing power.
